Formed in 2013 as a side project for Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, Scar the Martyr, which also features the talents of lead guitarists Jed Simon (Strapping Young Lad) and Kris Norris (Darkest Hour), keyboard player Matthew Tarach, bassist Kyle Konkiel, and vocalist Henry Derek, specializes in a hard-hitting, hook-filled blend of post-grunge and alternative metal that invokes names like Alice in Chains and Neurosis.
The band issued its eponymous debut long-player on Roadrunner Records in September 2013. In May 2016, Jordison announced the dissolution of the band. Along with Norris, Simon, Konkiel, and Tarach, Jordison went on to form a new group, VIMIC. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
