Fast forward to the age of the Casiotone MT-70 keyboard and a cassette recorder he received on Christmas years later and there was no turning back. Between 1979-1989, he wrote over 500 songs alone.
Michael attended East Carolina University and received the BM and MM in music composition, then worked there as recording engineer and instructor for 21 years. In 2015, he moved back to his home state of VA.
Michael did take a hiatus from creating music from 1999-2007, then stumbled on the poetry of Sara Teasdale and was incredibly moved by her lyrical prose. A long-term project involves setting several poems to songs in the electronic-pop genre.
In 2016, Michael released a compilation album, "Songs Through Time" featuring new and remastered tracks from the past 20 years. In 2017, he released the "Christmas Lake" EP. In June 2018, he released the album, "Issues". In July 2019, he released the new age EP "Aquarium".
Michael is a studio composer/songwriter. His music is tricky to play live, due to the gear used to make it. He played a one-man-band live set of new and old songs in November 2017...first time live in over 22 years.
