Almost a decade later that kid is still studying the scene, but he no longer sinks into the background. 23-year-old Ian Koromah, aka Maxsta wears those formative years proudly, like a badge of honour: the years in which he embarked on a journey, relocating from his native South London, to East London, with aspirations to be a grime MC in the vein of his personal favourites - Dizzee Rascal, Kano, and of course the Godfather himself, Wiley.
Right now he’s busy putting the finishing touches on ‘Maxtape 2', describing his plans to develop the series as time capsules that will demonstrate his growth and deliver the narrative of his career. “When I did the first one I was 16, and it was literally everything that I cared about at the time. This is a completely different time for me in life, so as much as my music skills have progressed, I’ve got a lot of different things to say.”
