JUNE dARK was born June Park in South Korea. June means "Light," and Park means "Naive" in Chinese characters.
Her journey in music started as she formed a progressive metal band Clandestine in Los Angeles, California. Shortly after the release of the band's demo in 2006, Clandestine was awarded the Best Female Fronted Band by a local music newspaper. The band released a full-length album in 2011 which led them to an independent record deal the same year and followed up with a national tour. After a few years with the band, June wanted to explore a more vulnerable and personal side of her music that previously didn't allow for the subtlety of expression. In 2013, she decided to officially put the band on hiatus and branched out as a solo artist.
It took a while for June to make the transition. She dealt with debilitating self-doubt and depression as she went through the process of evolution as an artist. At the end of the tunnel, JUNE dARK finally reveals herself with her brand new sound. Featuring more refined yet compelling voice, she projects heartfelt lyrics filled with emotional conviction and haunting imagery. She creates each song through pitch black hours trusting the light within her. JUNE dARK daringly explores intensified longing, conflicts, mystified hopes and fears across the spectrum of human emotions in every shade.
