Singer turned producer, pianist turned Lord of Synth, Moodsmith is Matthew Noth’s piano centric, R&B leaning project.
Years of experimentation on the keys and even more behind the drum kit in Jam & Jazz bands, combined with a passion for exploring and expanding his musical interior led him to develop a unique style of beat-making. The name ‘Moodsmith’ comes from this mission: crafting moods by welding together intricate rhythms and layers of expertly designed melodic synths. These moods provide a basis for his singularly recognizable vocal melodies, which express an inner empathy and a recognition of the intimate nature of music, its sacredness and unique ability to connect people together; as well as a not-so-serious, sometimes humorous stream of consciousness on modern love, loss, and being human.
Based in Nashville Tennessee, Matt—often referred to simply as “Noth” by friends—originally hails from Chicago, Illinois. He received a BA in English from Belmont University, and has performed at a number of Nashville venues. Matt has composed and released several albums & singles; His 2015 track "Loud" with Megan Davies was featured on the popular music publication Earmilk. When not engaged in music or survival, you’ll probably find him re-reading Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time for the third or fourth time, practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa or watching UFO conspiracy documentaries.
