The Crack Up (A Quote by F. Scott Fitzgerald)
“In 2018, I lost everything. I experienced life as it’s worst. My fiancé left me. I lost very close people in my life to suicide.
I was finding it difficult to do anything,” says TP Hyland, the man behind Badhead Hyland, his so proclaimed ‘apathetic alter ego’. “I found after ten years of cynically disapproving of artists who said ‘music was therapy’ to them, finding it the most therapeutic and wonderful, cathartic thing. It was almost as if I rediscovered music again. This record pretty much saved me from slipping any further, I think”.

It was a sharp learning curve having spent 10 years fronting outfits such as 8 piece art/pop collective Real Life Charm and alternative rock band Marines.

In his past projects, TP has been published in i-D, Clash, IndieShuffle, Rocksound, AMBY & MusicWeek and supported by Radio 1 (Phil Taggart, Annie Mac, Huw Stephens) Radio X (Dave Rowntree, Communion) and BBC Radio 6 (Lauren Laverne) - with the press often celebrating his honest lyrics, emotive singing style, creativity and 'English-isms'. His Spotify plays across his last projects have nearly reached a quarter of a million, which he coyly admits and self deprecatingly follows with; “Not bad for a chubby lad with anxiety. It’s not even close to what my music industry friends went onto get, but I’m happy someone other than my Mum is listening”.
