Award-winning multi-instrumentalist Michael J McEvoy’s composing credits include film scores for ‘Finding Your Feet’, Richard Loncraine’s rom-com feature starring Imelda Staunton, Timothy Spall and Celia Imrie and ‘The Jazz Ambassadors’, Hugo Berkeley’s 2019 Peabody Award winning BBC/PBS/Arte documentary. Most recently, Michael composed the score for the film ‘White Gold’ (2020) which won ‘Best Narrative Short’ at the Oscar-qualifying Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles. Michael composed and produced music for Richard Linklater’s ‘Me and Orson Welles’ starring Zac Efron and Clare Danes, and indie feature ‘Forget Me Not’ starring Tobias Menzies. In collaboration with Paul Oakenfold, he worked on Overture Pictures’ ‘Nothing Like the Holidays’ starring Alfred Molina and the award-winning Japanese anime feature, ‘Vexille’. Apart from film scoring, Michael has worked with pop music legends including Ian Dury, Soul II Soul, Paul Oakenfold and Steve Winwood to name but a few. He has released numerous compositions including three albums: The Long Way Home (2014) featuring modern British jazz stars Nigel Hitchcock, Gerard Presencer, Jason Rebello, Ben Castle and James Maddren, Terra Cognita (2010) and Night Sea Journey (1996). His piece “Mother Medusae” was nominated for the 2019 Jazz Composition for Small Ensemble Ivors Composer Award.
