Flaccid Ashbacks is a rock and roll group from New York City and also sometimes Middletown, Connecticut.
It all began when Jefferson Randall (guitar, vocals) and Jake Abraham (drums) met at a mutual friend’s 9th birthday party. The first incarnation of the Ashbacks began under Obama’s first term, but the group took its current form in 2016 with the acquisition of Henry Hodder (lead guitar) and Charles Allen (bass), who are first cousins. Beginning with casual jam sessions under their university’s cafeteria, the group began writing original material. The first handful of songs resulted in their debut EP, “Try the Soup”, an upbeat introduction to the band’s blend of indie rock, garage rock, and whatever else.
After playing the college circuit in the northeast for a while, the band hunkered down to record their second EP, “Hark!”, an upbeat reaffirmation of the band’s blend of indie rock, garage rock, and whatever else. This record produced a music video for “An Egg”, the absurdist opening track that seethes with roaring guitars and pounding drums.
Flaccid Ashbacks continue to play shows around New York City and the northeast. They’re currently recording their debut full length album.
