It’s a tightly-constructed, well crafted sound: full of melodic hooks and a relatable writing style inspired by Dylan, Springsteen and Neil Young.
Starting out as a solo performer under his real name Drew Allen, he immediately caught the ear of James Blunt and supported the acclaimed performer on the Bournemouth leg of the 2014 Moon Landing arena tour.
But Allen quickly became restless with his folk artistry and was keen to take his edgy delivery further with a more lavish sound.
After full band demo sessions of two back catalogue staples (Holborn Avenue and Show Me a Little Mercy) resulted in adulation from industry tastemakers on both sides of the Atlantic, it was only a matter of time before DD Allen’s music garnered wider attention.
Now busy recording his latest single, due for release Sep 2018, DD Allen continues to evolve: further entwining the principal strands of emotive songwriting and the taut, immediate call to arms of a well-versed contemporary guitar band.
