Søjus1 is a band from Dresden that combines jazzy, complex drum rhythms with psychedelic synthesizer sequences, drones and low-fi samples.
The two band members Ralf Müller-Hoffmann and Simon Arnold count Cinematic Orchestra, DJ Shadow, Massive Attack, but also Pink Floyd and Philip Glass among their most important influences.
Already on their self-released debut album of the same name in 2015, beat-heavy tracks alternated with sound collages and ambient pieces. The feedback from the music critics was overwhelming. And so radio stations with a differentiated music program soon became aware of the band Søjus1. The positive feedback and interest made it possible for the band to perform their live set, supplemented by video projections, on numerous German stages.
Of course you will also feel at home on the stages of Dresden. They are deeply rooted in the musical landscape of their hometown through numerous collaborations, through work with guest singers and through joint projects such as the live scoring of films.
Most recently, in 2020, Søjus1 composed soundtracks for two silent films, each of which was played live at the same time as the film was shown. These projects in turn had a strong influence on the creation of the current album “ORWO”, which will be released on March 26, 2021 on their own label Sojus1 Records.
