Su Charles, aka SuCh, is a singer and songwriter who makes refined and sophisticated R&B regarding everyday life and relationships.
Born in Boston but raised on Long Island, she started early -- she's the daughter of a minister -- by singing in a children's choir. While in high school, she received a boost when she was selected to join the Grammy High School Jazz Ensemble, but she concentrated on working toward a career outside music and earned degrees in exercise science and nursing. After caring for victims of the 2010 Haiti earthquake and considering the shortness of life, Charles realized that she should continue to pursue music and competed on X Factor and American Idol. She also began a recording career as SuCh. She released her first album, Stretch Marks, led by the swinging and cathartic single "Robbed," in May 2012. A stronger second album, Trial and Error, followed in September 2014, highlighted by "Sugar Maple." ~ Andy Kellman
