Based in Riga, Latvia, the two-time winner of the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing is a ringing example of the Latvian choral music tradition. In addition to programs of traditional Latvian folk music, "Kamēr…" is renowned for its nuanced performances of programs ranging from Baroque and Classical repertoire to the works of contemporary composers from both Latvia and abroad.
The Youth Choir "Kamēr…" has honed its signature style through the creation of programs commissioned specifically for the ensemble: "World Sun Songs" (2008), "Madrigals of Love" (2010), "The Moon Songs
" (2012) and "Amber Songs" (2014). These ambitious projects have led to fruitful collaborations with world-renowned composers including Sir John Tavener, Giya Kancheli, Sven-David Sandström, Leonid Desyatnikov, John Luther Adams, Stephen Leek, Dobrinka Tabakova, Gabriel Jackson, Ko Matsushita, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Pēteris Vasks, and others.
The compelling sound of the Youth Choir "Kamēr…" is characterized by a balance of vocal quality and emotional surrender, resulting in a product attainable only by highly-trained amateur singers.
