KAZE are a "vibrant, future-facing" band based in Manchester. Graham McCusker, from Paisley and Amy Webber from Kent, met while studying opera at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2012.
They started writing songs while Graham was undergoing chemotherapy for Leukaemia in 2016 and as soon as he finished treatment, they recorded and released their first EP. Amy writes the lyrics and sings while Graham writes the music, plays keys, sings and cracks bad jokes. They decided on the name KAZE, because it means ‘wind’ in Japanese - we’ll let you decide why...
Secured airplay on BBC 6 Music by Tom Robinson (both on his Saturday night show and his Introducing Mixtape), Amazing Radio by Jim Gellatly and on BBC Radio Oxford - which included an interview. KAZE were picked as ‘Artist of the Week’ by Richer Unsigned in April 2017 and featured in their ‘Best of May’ playlist. In July they did a live session for Sofar Sounds in Manchester. And in September 2017, they are releasing their first single, Pinned On You with launch gigs in both Manchester and London.
“Female fronted, fresh sounding, future facing” - Tom Robinson (BBC 6 MUSIC)
"That is pretty darn tasty" - Jim Gellatly (XFM, Amazing Radio)
"Superb alternative-pop song... full of surprises" - Rob Lewis (CEO Richer Unsigned)
"Fingerprints of Steely Dan & Fleetwood Mac" - Colin Towns (Ian Gillan Band)
