Singer/songwriter and inventor of the term StorytellerPunk, Ida Gard, is known for her intelligent and edgy pop songs as well as her uncompromising, borderline stubborn, need to go her own ways.
She is sometimes lost, sometimes right on track but always in pursuit of what’s honest and real.
So far this approach has led to support shows for Bob Dylan and John Legend, numerous headliner shows mainly in Denmark and Germany, and three critically acclaimed albums.
With the surprise win of a prestigious radio contest, Ida Gard was catapulted from the privacy of her bedroom to heavy nationwide rotation on Danish Radio with the song On His Knees. A dream come true, but also an overnight transformation that was hard to keep up with for a young, inexperienced artist with no team around her.
The follow-up, Doors, was recorded in NYC, with a dream of going bigger and broader. The album gained good airplay and opened the door to Germany where Gard has since been touring regularly.
Womb from 2016 is a concept album inspired by the Swedish cult novel "Popular Music From Vittula". On top of an extensive tour throughout Germany and Denmark, the album took Ida Gard to the book's origin, Pajala, north of the Polar Circle, where she went elk scouting and target shooting with the author, Mikael Niemi.
