Andriana Gnap is an American born singer/songwriter with a strong connection to her Ukrainian heritage.
She has appeared as a vocalist, violinist, and dancer in theater and music productions throughout New York, Los Angeles and New England, including the Williamstown Theatre Festival with Kate Burton and Broadway director Roger Rees. While Andriana performs and writes various styles of music, Ukrainian folk songs remain close to her heart. Andriana's love of Ukrainian culture stems from her grandparents, who immigrated to the U.S. after being displaced from their homeland during WWII. She grew up listening to stories of their childhood home, which later inspired many of her lyrics.
At age four, Andriana began performing at numerous events that highlighted Ukrainian art and history, often joined by her mother and aunt. They later formed the Family Trio Heavenstar, appearing at festivals and on radio programs in the U.S. and Canada. Andriana and Trio’s recent album Songs From Home is dedicated to those that gave their lives for Ukraine’s independence. A portion of sales helps orphans and wounded warriors through Hope For Ukraine. Andriana also dedicates the album to her beloved grandfather Gregory, who wrote several of the songs at age 92. When not on stage, Andriana teaches English, and shares music with her students. As she puts it, “Music tells the story of the people - their joys and their heartaches, and in those stories we find common ground.”
