Rebecca Pronsky is a born and raised Brooklynite with a “voice to die for” (Maverick) and songwriting talent that showcases “brutal, cutting lyricism" (Ithaca Times).
Rebecca’s music has been featured on NPR Song of the Day, WNYC, BBC6, and on television shows such as Breaking Amish, Usta Usta, and 90210. She recently appeared singing on an episode of "This American Life."
As an alt-country artist, Rebecca released 4 full length albums and spent a decade on tour sharing stages with such songwriting greats as Shawn Colvin, Loudon Wainwright III, Peter Case, Madeleine Peyroux, Josh Ritter, and Steve Forbert. Her 2013 album "Only Daughter" was named a Top 10 Country Album of the Year by the UK’s The Telegraph.
Since the 2016 election, Rebecca has brought her songwriting to the context of cabaret and political comedy. Rebecca released her first concept album "Witness: Hillary's Song Cycle" on November 8, 2017, the one year anniversary of the election. The album explores the imagined inner world of Hillary Clinton after the election. Rebecca recorded the songs with an all female band and creative team. The project evolved into a musical theatre piece and premiered in full at The NY International Fringe Festival in 2018.
Rebecca's newest project is #2020candidateJams, 22 one-minute songs for each of the candidates running for the Democratic nomination. The songs were recorded as a studio album based on the original YouTube videos which are viewable at
