Curtsy is an angry-dream-pop/dreamy-alt-rock five piece from Los Angeles. The band was formed when Austin Knecht (vocals, guitar) auditioned as a lap steel player for a local country-folk band fronted by Crystal Napoles (vocals, keys).
After bonding over their mutual love of 80s pop and 90s shoegaze, the pair branched off on their own and began writing stripped-down indie pop songs together. Jonathan Palmquist (drums), Kai Dodson (bass), and Tamara Simons (guitar) joined the duo along the way, forming a propulsive, rich rhythm section. Curtsy's sound meshes elements of lush indie pop with alt rock's driving rhythms and folk rock's haunting boy/girl harmonies.
