From 2005 to 2018, Chuck joined the military and served overseas, with a deployment to Afghanistan in 2007. After graduation from West Point in 2012, he moved to Colorado and met singer-songwriter Tyler Halsey, and from that point the project was resumed.
During the final years of his military service, Chuck formed the group Bad News Band in 2016. The group was a idea formed after performing with fellow songwriter Sam Riggs in Colorado, and the focus shifted to recording an album as soon as possible. Releasing their only album "Drive Anywhere" in January of 2017, the group performed in Missouri, Texas and Oklahoma recording with Mike McClure from the Mike McClure Band and The Great Divide.
In May of 2017, the group disbanded and a new group was formed to push Chuck's first solo album. "Texas and You" was composed of music works and lyrics written from 2010 to 2017, with even one song, "Waste Your Time" being written the week before the studio. Once again working with Mike McClure and Joe Hardy, the group finished the record just weeks before Chuck left the military. Currently, the group still performs in Missouri and will continue to write and prepare for the next album.
