Coby Brown is a composer, songwriter and recording artist based in Los Angeles. He created the score for IFC's “The Man Who Knew Infinity” (dir.
Matt Brown), a biopic of the Indian mathematical genius S. K. Ramanujan, starring Jeremy Irons and Dev Patel. He scored the PBS SoCal documentary series “Angeleno” (dir. Peter Jones), Guns For Hire starring Jeffery Dean Morgan & Ben Mendelsohn, and has created music for clients including Microsoft and Motorola.
In 2008, Coby emerged from a cancer diagnosis with the full length Stars & Curses, which Performing Songwriter called “Awash with atmosphere… all shimmer and seduction.” His song “Your Luck is Going to Change” was in regular rotation in 2008-9 on XM’s the Coffeehouse and he was a finalist for their discovery of the year that same year.
He followed that up with 2013’s French Exit, which features guest turns from David Immergluck (Counting Crows, Camper Van Beethoven) and Michael Jerome (Richard Thompson, John Cale). His song “Hospital” was covered by Counting Crows on their 2102 covers record “Underwater Sunshine.”
Coby's songs have appeared in films including "Nothing But the Truth", “The River Why” and “Answers to Nothing", and many tv shows including most recently Showtime's Shameless and CW's the Flash.
He's currently working in Los Angeles with producer Justin Stanley (Prince, Sheryl Crow, Jamie Lidell) on new music due out later this year.
