Jasmin Lacasse Roy was born with a rare sensitivity to sound. His musical abilities were evident early but did not find their proper outlet until he started playing classical guitar.
After some years in the most elite music school, where he obtained his PhD in guitar performance, and first prizes at the Canadian Music Competition and the Montreal Grand Prize of Guitar, he was also invited to play at the Montreal Jazz Festival, McGill University and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
He is now developing his own compositional style for classical guitar, a musical style with a contrast of depth and sensibility that uncannily resembles the human condition. JLR is an old fashion classical music composer and guitarist with an influence of blues, impressionism, surrealism and rock. A kind of combination between Debussy and Hendrix. JLR mixes vintage ideas with modern ones, favors imaginative contrasts and breaks the traditional forms to remain unpredictable. His music is full of cinematic images and captivates the audience with an authenticity that tells a story.
