Kat's LATEST EP RELEASE called “Hypothetical Scenario” digs deep into it, Detroit style! The NEW SINGLE “Shoulda Known Betta” simmers with a rhythm and drive that recalls the 70’s jam of Rick James and P-Funk!
And it’s no wonder since some of the key players on this EP have worked with George Clinton! She is joined on these recordings by Ron Otis (drummer with Aretha Franklin) Amp Fiddler (toured with P-Funk, recorded at Paisley Park). Grammy-Nominated, Maurice “Pirahnnahead” Herd (also worked with Clinton at United Sound, De La Soul and Jasmine Sullivan) produced and arranged all tracks, adding the magic with precisely that “slammin’ retro thang” in mind! Kat Orlando is Queen of Sax in Detroit. The moody, funky, gritty notes that Kat plays on her venerable woodwind instrument have energized the stages of nightclubs and festivals across Detroit for decades. She is a remarkable artist and entertainer. Kat spans multiple music genres. She can lay down a heavy Funk melody that will mesmerize an audience. Her musical versatility appeals to a wide range of fans. After “Shoulda Known..” rocks your mind, you’ll find that other cuts will shake you. “Wait” emotes the frustration one feels when “you’re on your own” in your views and opinions. “City 4 Sale” laments the state of decay (think Marvin’s What’s Going On”) and isolation of urban neighborhoods after the big corporate train leaves them dry. The EP is a great listen, and an even better buy!
