Born in Atlanta and raised in Mexico for part of his childhood, lui had much exposure to variances in culture and music. Naming among his favorite artists of all time Vicente Fernandez and in the same list Kanye West brings about a sure recipe for variety in style and production. While living in Atlanta during his teenage years, lui battled with graduating school, delinquency, and worst of all - a lack of identity on which he could build. Joining the military as a last resort to become someone with a good future, lui suffered from depression. A grand mixture of having served in two combat tours, abusing alcohol, and marital issues, lui_surv eventually attempted suicide twice, both of which were unsuccessful.
Upon discharge from the military after 8 years of service due to disciplinary action, lui returned to Atlanta after having been around the world. Immediately alcohol, parties, drugs and women became a comfort which was no longer restricted by the military. But soon after that lui_surv heard the voice of God asking, “have you had enough?” lui had indeed “had enough” of all the world offers, and knew there and then, that Jesus was the cure to the pain.
