Elder is a heavy rock band from New Bedford, Massachusetts, now based both in New England and Germany.
Formed by longtime friends Nick DiSalvo, Jack Donovan and Matt Couto in 2006, the group started as a stoner rock/doom metal outfit, releasing their first full length album "Elder" in 2008. 2011 saw the release of their second full length "Dead Roots Stirring" and a shift towards a more melodic and psychedelic sound. Following 2012's "Spires Burn/Release" EP, Elder made their first European tour, playing at the notable Roadburn festival and solidifying and justifying the hype that had been growing around their brand of heavy rock. By the time of 2015's "Lore", the band had shifted again, incorporating new progressive elements into their music and truly defining their own style. The album received critical acclaim and catapulted Elder into an intense touring circuit at home and abroad. In an uncharacteristically short two years, the band returned with their fourth full-length album "Reflections of a Floating World", their most adventurous and progressive record to date. For the first time in an 11 year career, the band added another member, guitarist/keyboardist Mike Risberg, for the tours following the release of the album.
