Jeff Gladstone is an actor/improvisor & musician living in the Coast Salish Territories known as Vancouver.
He grew up in Calgary Alberta, attending University of Calgary and joining the Loose Moose Theatre Company in 1994 where we worked with renowned Improvisation teacher Keith Johnstone. While at the Loose Moose, Jeff performed and composed music for various shows, and created some musical improvisation formats.
He was mostly a self-taught musician, but took African Drumming and musical theory and history lessons from PhD student Dr. Onyee Nwankpaa in Calgary, and soon after joined his Nigerian Folk Ensemble Odiche.
Jeff moved to Vancouver in 2000, making a living as an actor and improvisor, and continuing to write music. In 2012 Jeff spent a summer in Toronto performing at the Summerworks festival, and reconnecting with his friend from Loose Moose days, @Terra Hazelton who had been touring as the singer in Jeff Healey's Jazz Wizards. Terra produced and recorded Jeff's album Hell of a Girl (available as Jeff Gladstone) featuring some of the top jazz players in Toronto. The album has a strong improvisational element. Diana Pirusevska directed a music video for One Little Accident Away that played Festivals and is available on YouTube.
Jeff brought together the members of the Bad Ideas from the jazz community in Vancouver. @Bonnie Northgraves on trumpet and vocals, Buff Allen on drums, Steve Charles on guitar and Arnt Arntzen on banjo.
