Maria Kelly is an Irish alternative-folk artist, based between Dublin and Berlin.
Growing up in Mayo, Maria has spent many years crafting and developing her delicate, poignant sound. Taking influence from artists such as Regina Spektor, Daughter and Lisa Hannigan, her songs are snapshots of deeply personal, heart-breaking experiences.
In 2016, Maria released ‘Stitches’ (Veta Records), praised by the 405 and quickly named one of ‘The 50 Best Tracks of 2016’ in The Irish Times. The track went on to garner more than 200,000 streams on Spotify.
In 2017, Maria was named one of ’50 People to Watch’ in The Irish Times, followed by the release of her debut EP, ‘The Things I Should’. Two singles followed - ‘Hollow’ and ‘Threads’ (a collaboration with Ailbhe Reddy), all produced by Matt Harris (HAWK, Stalagmites). With each release, Maria’s work continued to gain momentum, featuring in online publications including Wonderland, Mahogany and The Line of Best Fit.
Maria has played numerous shows in Ireland, the UK and Europe, supporting the likes of James Vincent McMorrow, KT Tunstall and Paul Noonan (Bell X1), as well as playing at last year’s Great Escape, Electric Picnic, and Ireland’s acclaimed Other Voices Festival.
April of this year launched Maria’s first vinyl release, ‘Dark Places/Small Talk’, a double A-side in which she opens up about the topic of her own mental health.
Maria is currently based in Berlin, creating new material and working on her live show.
