Sophia Rankin is a Folk Rock singer/songwriter from Tucson, AZ who recently graduated from The University of Arizona with a BA in Music.
Rankin has been songwriting from a young age; her song “Goodbye” won first place at the Tucson Desert Songwriters Festival in 2017, and — along with her song, “Before I Get To One” — also secured her the first-place award at the Stefan George Songwriting Competition in 2018. Rankin released two original albums before graduating college ("Reverie" 2016, "SOLACE" 2018). Rankin has been featured on KXCI’s radio as an emerging artist in folk, as well as the Arizona Daily Star as an acclaimed Tucson artist/songwriter and Audience Favorite Performer. After years of working as a solo artist, she has formed a band that collaboratively mixes genres with their strong foundation in folk roots in order to provide a unique blend of folk rock and alternative sounds to their original music. Their performances include the Tucson Folk Festival (at which Rankin is a regular main-stage act), Dusk Music Festival, Monsoon Music Festival, Nova Bowl New Year’s Eve, and more. Upcoming events and music can be found on her website at www.sophiarankin.com. Rankin is currently working on recording her third original album.
These are my words and my heart, and I sing because I have something to say. I hope my songs bring you as much comfort and joy as they have brought me. Thank you for listening:)
