While his open-tuning guitar style can be linked to influences such as Ben Howard, John Butler Trio and The Tallest Man On Earth Aidan & the Wild, the moniker by which Eindhoven based singer-songwriter Diederik van den Brandt tells his musical tale, found a connection with an older americana generation as well in artists such as John Prine and Townes Van Zandt.
His great interest for playing the guitar in unconventional ways in combination with an honest mindset result in a repertoire that ranges from heartfelt confessions that cut to the bone to groovy tunes that'll make you move on the spot. Aidan & the Wild aims to take the listener on a musical journey through his personal interpretation of folk and americana music, and anything in between.
Over the years his love for the guitar branched out to playing a range of instruments such as the pedal steel guitar, banjo and mandolin. As such he took to producing his own music, playing the lion's share of the instruments in able to be in full control of constructing his musical scenery. He can also be found backing up French chansonnier Baptiste W. Hamon on the pedal steel and country-pop diva Dési Ducrot on the guitar.
With over 400 shows in the past the 24 year old musician has ran his share of millage towards a wider audience, and with airplay on NPO Radio 2 & 5 and 3FM, shows on the Naked Song Festival and Ilse DeLange's Tuckerville and opening for artists such as Hiss Golden Messenger and Dan Owen he is well on his way.
