Few artists have anchored the mixture of analogue and digital sounds as broadly and deeply as the pianist Ralf Schmid in his project PYANOOK.
Performing on two grand pianos with mi.mu data gloves, he unlocks new potentials for his instrument and exploits futuristic performative settings. Schmid interweaves acoustic sound with live electronics organically and sets himself just one limit: “All sound creation is based on the timeless timbre of the grand piano.” PYANOOK is Schmid’s artistic exploration of technology.
