In 2014, Ryan spent eight months at an internship in Kurashiki, Japan. Living by himself and battling the challenges of moving to a foreign city, he purchased a keyboard and a train pass, spending his free-time traveling the country and working on his music. It was those eight months that changed his hobby into a passion. He became influenced and inspired by modern producers like Odesza, Petit Biscuit, and Porter Robinson and the Indie-sounds of artists like Daughter and Bon Iver.
Upon returning to the States, Ryan moved into a neighborhood on the outskirts of downtown Cincinnati known as "Over-the-Rhine". Once the most dangerous area of the city, OTR is now the up-and-coming food and arts scene. With his newly harnessed talent in producing and eclectic new surroundings, he created his own OTR.
