Cosines are an electronically inclined indie pop band from North London. Chief songwriters and vocalists Simon Nelson and Alice Hubley met one night on the London Underground following a Stereo Total show in 2009, and after getting to know each other decided to capitalize on their common interests in new wave, avant-garde '60s pop, German art pop, and the mathematical style of Stereolab by starting a band.
After adding Daniel Chapman and the Late Jonny Drums (who had both been members of the Loves along with Alice) and Kajsa Tretow of a Smile and a Ribbon, Cosines began playing shows and released their first single, "Hey Sailor Boy!," in early 2013. They followed it up with another single, "Commuter Love," a year later, before putting out their first album, Oscillations, in June of 2014 for the Swedish label Fika Recordings. The record was produced by the band at Simon's Klank Studio and featured contributions from Gabe Saucedo (Still Flyin', Red Pony Clock) and Gary Olson of the Ladybug Transistor. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi
