Dascha Dauenhauer began playing the piano at the age of five, which was soon followed by piano and composition lessons.
When she was seven, her family moved to Berlin where she deepened her education of music. She is a multi-year winner of the competitions “"Jugend musiziert“ and “"Jugend komponiert“. A large variety of own works was created, including chamber music and soloistic instrumentations. Her orchestral piece “"Sinfonietta“ was premiered at the Philharmonie Berlin in 2004.
Dascha studied piano at the “Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler”, then received her diploma in Music Theory from the University of the Arts Berlin and finally completed her Master of Film Music at the Filmuniversity KONRAD WOLF in Babelsberg.
Since then she has worked on numerous cinema productions as a composer and music producer. Her films are shown internationally at many established film festivals.
The film JIBRIL (by Henrika Kull) celebrated its premiere at the Berlinale in 2018, just like BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ (by Burhan Qurbani) in 2020. LOVE ME, FEAR ME (by Veronica Solomon) was nominated for the Student Academy Awards.
Furthermore she has been nominated three times for the German Film Music Award in 2018 and won in the categories “Best Music in a Short Film” and “New Talent”.
In 2020, she won the German Film Academy Award in the category Best Original Music Score for BERLIN ALEXANDERPLATZ.
