Hailing from both the Azores Islands, Portugal and Long Beach, California, Producer/DJ Eusébio Akasa’s influences have been widespread since birth.
Engaging in what he calls “Tropitablism”: the seamless blending of varying genres and time periods, his performance’s purpose is to highlight the breadth of human expression in music while underscoring the beats and rhythms that unify us all. From Akasa’s self-produced Afrobeat tracks off his prolific EPs to underground Tropical House, from Cumbia classics to his many colorful Hip Hop remixes, Akasa’s presentation speaks to everyone of all backgrounds and brings out the best of people on the dance floor.
Eusébio Akasa is producer of world music most often focusing on traditional afrobeat and tropical house. His latest EP, titled Beaucoup Excitation is an homage to late great Fela Kuti, and brings a modern kick to 70's afro-jazz. The album features instrumentalist Bobby Easton, leader of Delta Nove and touring member of Parliament of Funk, along with horn player Todd Simon who has worked with many artists of world fame such as Kanye West, Lauryn Hill, Nas, and Macy Gray. Hailing from Uganda, GNL Zamba is also featured on the track "Anikulapo", a thumping dancefloor favorite. Fantastic is the Romantic was released on the same day, and holds a more modern, (sometimes jazzy, sometimes housey) space.
