Melbourne-based producer Roland Tings (Rohan Newman) seemed to materialize out of nowhere in 2012, swiftly capturing the attention of Australia’s dance underground.
Coupling hyperactive energy with hypnotic synth programming, the young producer filled Melbourne’s house parties and basement clubs with his bubbling, kinetic house music. The international industry soon took notice, and Roland began releasing with labels 100% Silk and Internasjonal.
Roland now returns with Salt Water, his sophomore full-length LP, which emerged from the waves of The Great Ocean Road — a massive stretch of scenic highway hugging the southern coast of Australia. There, after years of intensive touring, Roland set up shop in the Otway National Park where he rented an old minimalist home that became the space for Salt Water's tide to roll in. The resulting album is brisk and briny, pearled and sun-soaked, featuring singles Hiding in the Bushes and Always Rushing (feat. Mild Minds).
