Takénobu is the middle name and all encompassing artist/band name for Nick Takénobu Ogawa. The name is a combination of the Japanese Kanji of his father and grandfather's names, and loosely translated means "Iron Will".
Ogawa started on the cello at 6 and began writing songs in High School. In 2006 he won the Williamsburg Live Singer Songwriter Contest in Brooklyn, NY, and used the prize money to release his first album "Introduction" in 2007. Since then he has released 5 studio albums, and his music has appeared in tv and film, including 3 original feature length motion picture soundtracks.
In live performance Ogawa is joined by Kathryn Koch on violin and vocals. The duo use loop pedals to layer their instruments to create a modern orchestral sound and texture underneath vocal harmonies.
