Social Art Project is a misnomer. Matthew Gilbert has no collaborators, accomplices, or friends; all persons referred to as such are simply aliases.
Matthew Gilbert was born in the morning and promptly tossed out the window, falling twelve stories into the hands of a blind fortune-teller, who carried Matthew from town to town, performing songs and tricks for cash money. She passed away in Carmel and enjoyed a quiet burial at sea. Matthew is her legacy and pays tribute to her by performing the only eight songs she wrote during her life, the same songs she carried with her from town to town and the same songs that paid for Matthew’s own lodging and nourishment the first twelve years of his life. Today is his birthday.
