While many of his initial releases were instrumentals, darwinmcd embarked on his first collaboration in May 2018 with the single “Click” featuring Eric C. Powell on vocals (and additional synths), a synthpop gem that has swept the airwaves in Europe and the US.
For his next collaboration, darwinmcd worked with LA-based singer and recording artist, Huguenot. Their hit single “Run” is is a continuation of early 80’s synth-pop glory blending darwinmcd’s addictive musical stylings with Huguenot’s catchy vocal melodies, and included two follow-up EPs featuring brilliant remixes from Parralox, Fiben, Fused, Graflex, Static Shore and Mark Hagen.
In February 2019, darwinmcd applied his signature sound to a remix for MDA’s beautiful song “Couldn’t We”.
As a songwriter, darwinmcd was influenced by 80’s and early 90’s electronic/alternative bands but listens to many genres of music, often spending time in “discovery mode” to find new songs and artists that will move and inspire him.
“The right song can make you feel euphoric, nostalgic or completely change your mood. I set out to write music that I would want to listen to. If one of my songs can effect a listener in a positive way, there is no greater reward as a songwriter.” – darwinmcd
