Intending on putting Gary Barlow to shame, Desmerelda pride themselves on being Britain’s best boy band.
The threesome first came together when Bromley boys Max Broggio and Alex Cripps met the Scottish-bred Fraser Currie in their late teens.
After building their following through local shows and an intimate UK tour, the band and producer Ed Ripley came into contact. In 2019, Desmerelda released what they class as their first official single, ‘This Time’ - a revamped and reimagined version of a previous demo release. The London-based group say that Ripley’s involvement allowed them to give their music the “magic sauce” and truly bring out the sound they had envisioned. The single premiered on Boogaloo Radio on Max Goodman’s evening show and also garnered attention from the likes of Abbie McCarthy on BBC Introducing Kent.
In late 2019, the trio released ’Tango with the Hypnotist’ entering them into the realms of dark, fuzzy disco along with a video that visualised the destructive nature of binge drinking culture.
'Welcome to the Establishment' is Desmerelda's latest offering which sees Broggio and Cripps divvy up the vocals in a true duo-frontman style. The track is fuelled with fuzzy guitars and Currie's pounding drums that create a two and a half minute ride of punky goodness.
Riffy goodness” “I like it. I like it a lot.” - Abbie McCarthy, BBC Introducing Kent
