Inspired by struggles for equal rights regardless of ethnicity, gender identity and sexuality, singer/ songwriter Tom Hugo composed an outline of a song. Given their long struggle in pursuit of equal rights, including a Sámi songwriter in this emerging project made eminent sense. Sámi rapper/joiker Fred-Rene Overgård Buljo jumped at the opportunity. Shortly afterwards, singer Alexandra Rotan came on board, completing the collaboration. On a night filled with northern lights, lyricist Alexander Olsson was inspired by the Sámi belief that nature gives you strength in times of trouble. Finnish hit-producer Henrik Tala and German producer Rüdiger Schramm joined the team, and Spirit in the Sky was born. Keiino won the televised pre-selection in Norway by a landslide and the song skyrocketed to the top of the Norwegian charts.
KEiiNO believe everyone should feel like they can achieve their dreams - regardless of who they love, how they look or where they are from. KEiiNO dares to dream that their music will inspire people all over the world to rise above differences and work together.
