listener. A writer of sublime spontaneity, Mikalyn says she is inspired by everyday happenings, interactions, observations, even when she sees in television or overhears in a conversation. Translating these snippets into a melody and lyrics that audiences can identify with, as she has done on Gone, is truly a gift, and something she wants to continue to hone and sharpen as she broadens her musical horizons.
“This is what I love to do, what I have always wanted to do, and I want to continue to create for the rest of my life. I want to make music that connects with people, that touches people and that will last. I have always loved singing and songwriting and I am never going to sacrifice that just for fame or popularity,” Mikalyn said, emphatically. “For me, everything comes back to the song. I want to put the work and effort and artistry into everything I do, and I will always stand by that philosophy. I want my music, my recordings and my live shows to really connect with people. That’s what I have always enjoyed about other people’s music - the music that touched my life, and I want to do the same for others with my own songs.”
