Born in South Carolina raised in Florida, The Stokely Carmichael named MC began rapping at the age of 17, along with three high school friends (Ross Munroe, Alex Kidd, & Rob Yung) the Soulstice was formed.
In 2012 the crew Dropped “MF Wonders”, receiving positive feedback from a few online publications coupled with the urge to develop his craft, Lafayette decided to give it a turn as a solo act. In October of 2012 Lafayette gives us “Life’s journey” a project that’s everything the title entails, insight into the life of Stokely storying his move to New York, pressures to be successful in his craft, and his general perspective on life as he knows it. On the same day one year later Lafayette gives us the second installment of Life’s Journey with “Life Goes On”. On this project Lafayette’s sheds more light into the life of Stokely, touching on everything from his southern roots, losing loved ones, his love life, and why his time spent in NYC was so necessary. Fast forward to 2015, Lafayette decides to move back to Florida. Back under the Florida sun, Lafayette with reservations being perceived as a failure he vowed to hit his hometown of Orlando and work until the city knows his name. As it turns out the move back to the sunshine state ended up being exactly what Lafayette needed, he reunited with fellow crew member/producer Ross Munroe to give us “Life As We Know It”. In fact, the entire Soulstice crew now reunited, all as solo acts under the new moniker, The Art Dealers™.
