In the mid-40s she recorded with Mary Lou Williams but most of her later records found her in harness with her husband, Lawrence Lucie. In her early years, King performed and often recorded under a bewildering array of pseudonyms, including Lenore King, Lenore Kinsey, Susan King and Susan Lenore King.
