Founded by John Rackowski with instrumental recordings dating back to 2003, it was 10 years later in 2013 when the first EP titled "(d)anger" was officially released.
At seven songs, "(d)anger" was an introduction to the wide range of rock / hard rock elements to be explored in the coming years. Later that same year, the full-length follow up "Love and War" was released. In 2016, "Infliction" was released and marked the end of the instrument/solo era for Litost.
In September of 2018, writing and recording of a fourth release began. For the first time ever, John partnered up with vocalist Matt Smith, and the duo released "Colony" on April 5th, 2019. John & Matt recorded the entire album before the two ever met in person.
On October 4th of 2019, they released "Projections" - their first covers EP which garnered worldwide praise of their alternative metal take on five songs from five different original genres.
On June 26th, 2020, Litost released "Reflections" in what would be the final original appearance from vocalist Matt Smith. The concept album dives into the world of battling an addiction and features 12 songs meant to show a realistic look at the grind, sacrifice and courage it takes to open up about being an addict.
John writes, records and produces all music & artwork for Litost in his home studio in Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
