The youngest of four kids and daughter to an English teacher and a literary writer, Barton was a sensitive child who quickly took to songwriting. She grew up listening to the The Eagles, James Taylor and Indigo Girls, who influenced her writing that now compares to contemporary indie folk rock artists like Margaret Glaspy, Pinegrove, The Staves, and Phoebe Bridgers.
Olivia's debut album will be released early 2019. All but two songs on the album were written in various dorm rooms and Boston apartments while Olivia attended Berklee College of Music. Done almost entirely in live, one take recordings of Olivia singing and playing guitar in front of a single microphone, each song breathes with the room in which it was recorded. The result is a hauntingly beautiful window into a young woman’s most intimate admissions.
