This Stockholm based band started in 1995 as a spin-off from the garage-grunge-punk band Native Girl. Their first release was the 1997 EP Aerial Vault followed by the album Paris-Stockholm in 1999. Un Rodo Cora is somewhere between a band, a solo project and a collective, centered around the songwriter Bo Christo. Although a number of musicians form the core of the band the actual line-up is as fixed as a recipe for pizza. Band members switch instruments, guest musicians enter the ring, all depending on the needs of the song. Among them band members from label mates Stellan Wahlstrom Drift Band and Latvian Radio.
The band’s loose fit is a result of the frustration Bo felt in many of the bands he played with in his youth, where a fixed line-up often became a limitation. Instead of writing songs for the band he decided to form a band for the songs.
Their 2016 release Love Thy Neighbor was a departure from previous albums. Where the earlier albums were inspired by geographical locations, with titles like New York-Barentsburg and Beijing-Bangalore the focus here was on a journey with religious and political overtones.
A new album titled Titles And Frames is scheduled for release in 2020. The theme this time will be Friendship, Love and Loss.
