Emotions are meant to be expressed – and Danish singer/songwriter Julie Ellinor dares to do so. With her single ‘Oblivion’, which released on 18th September 2020, she has managed to make herself noticed with her remarkable melodic song writing and her unpolished sound.
‘Oblivion’ received attention from the media platform Girls Are Awesome, among others, who described the single as: “Despite its raw edges, listening to “Oblivion” is kind of like getting a long, warm hug from someone you trust. It’s a folky piece of amazing songwriting, where everything from the catchy melody to the alternative pop-production adds to the overall feeling of wanting to hit repeat”.
Ellinor is now ready to reveal her first collective work to the world, as she releases the EP ‘Flares in the Dark’ October 23. A heartfelt piece of work, which is a musical reflection on some of the greatest emotions in life. The songs within take you through five different stages of emotions, in what could be describes as a personal chaos.
‘Flares in the Dark’ is a direct result of two landmark years for the growing artist. After a period filled with support gigs, song writing camps and chaos, Ellinor has found a way, alongside her producer, Christian Alex Petersen (Liss, Mew, Baby In Vain etc.), where she can work from her intuition and indulge in the rough-edged and unpolished sound – inspired by artists such as The War On Drugs, Fleetwood Mac and Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys).
