Based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands Marle Thomson is a singer and songwriter, influenced by indie pop, neo-soul and jazz. Brought up in a musical family she started to play the violin at a young age and joined the gospel choir in church. After high school Marle was accepted at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, to study vocal jazz. During her studies she won the Jazz Talent Foundation award (Mathilde Santing Award). She further honed her skills by taking vocal classes in New York City.
In February 2016, Marle launched her first EP called ‘The Canopy’. The title of this EP symbolizes the writing process and the layers in the songs.
After a year of many shows and media coverage, Marle launched a new single in February 2017, entitled 'Satellites’. An unprecedented, striking song written, recorded and produced by Marle herself. The track was immediately picked up by blogs like Music Week (UK), Guestlist (UK) and Clash Magazine (UK).
In May 2017, 'The Canopy - Acoustic’ literally continued where the The Canopy EP left of. On the album, some of the songs that had already been released have been completely stripped down and recorded with just a guitar and Marle’s voice to get closer to the essence of the songs.
