Madelyn's second single of 2020 "How Easy" comes out November 13th!
In her solo work, Madelyn delivers playful and reflective acoustic originals that span the genres of folk, pop, country, and Americana. As a white cis-woman settler writing and performing on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, Madelyn writes from her identities and experiences, often as a way to explore how dominant social systems and narratives shape lives and communities. She pulls musical influence from her East Vancouver roots and powerful female musicians like Joni Mitchell, I’m With Her, and Norah Jones. She finds immense inspiration from activists fighting for radical feminist, anti-capitalist, and decolonial causes. Madelyn's songs bring listeners to reflect, both on the world around them and on themselves. Through her musical practice, she strives to bring joy to others, build community, and examine how we can create a more radical and just world.
Madelyn has also released an EP with her sister Savannah in their duo Arbutus (Arbutus, 2019), and joined forces with Vancouver indie artist Here North There (In the Midst, 2019).
