A raw, rule-breaking pop artist who reaches far beyond the genre for inspiration, FJØRA grew up in Toronto, surrounded by the sounds of jazz, world music, classical compositions, and Hollywood film scores.
FJØRA was born Alexandra Petkovski. At an early age, she was classically trained in piano, then quickly expanded into the world of improvisational jazz. By her teens, she was writing original songs and touring America in a band with her two sisters. By her early 20s, she was scoring films and completing her Masters of Commercial Music in Composition and Arranging at Belmont University in Nashville, TN.
"For me, pop music is the synthesis of electronic and acoustic elements," she says. "It's the marriage of technology and organic sound."
After beginning her pursuit of her PhD in Music Composition (Film Scoring) at the Steinhardt Graduate School of Music at NYU, FJØRA decided to focus solely on creating music on a songwriting, production, and compositional level within the industry.
With the release of her first EP, WATERCOLOR, FJØRA’s music became widely received - being premiered at MUCH Music, New Music Friday Canada, New Artists to Watch, Billboard, and used within TV shows like FOX & MTV.
FJØRA released her first cinematic EP, “Cruel World” (2019); a work created with a collective of talented producers & friends. A self-taught producer, she continues to hone her craft based in her home city, Toronto, Canada, while traveling constantly to Nashville, NYC, and LA.
