At Last is an album of 12 show stopping covers with the song choices curated by Luke. Their deliveries sent soaring by his powerful tenor & the glorious instrumentation of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The bold & imaginative selection includes such modern classics as U2’s ‘With Or Without You’, Maria McKee’s 90’s power ballad ‘Show Me Heaven’ and Cher’s ‘If I Could Turn Back Time’, along with Etta James ‘At Last’ & ‘First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ by Roberta Flack. On the project’s guiding ethos, Luke said “The album is a reimagining of very well-known tracks. So we were looking for tracks that we could strip right back down to the bare essentials & then add new arrangements. Turning an Eighties pop anthem or power ballad into something more acoustic or intimate – but retaining the essence of the original.”
“If you know anything about my past, you know I come from singing,” says Luke. He began his illustrious career performing in many of London's West End productions such as Rent, Miss Saigon, & Piaf. His thriving film career took him from Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll to Clash of the Titans, The Three Musketeers to Fast & Furious, Dracula Untold to The Hobbit & then Beauty & the Beast where world first witnessed Luke’s voice when he starred as ‘Gaston’.
At Last is Luke’s passion project and that’s ear-warmingly evident. “It’s a very personal album for me – the tracks haven’t just been chosen because they sound great. I wanted the lyrics, the messages to resonate.”
