Equally inspired by his formative years in Nigeria and moving from Los Angeles back to his teenage home of Duluth, critically acclaimed rapper, singer, and artist Daye Jack presents an unheard story, style, and sound that blissfully blurs the lines between pop, hip-hop, and alternative with one knockout hook after another.
After signing his publishing to producer extraordinaire Max Martin and inking a high-profile deal with Warner Bros. Records, a pair of EPs—Soul Glitch [2015] and Surf the Web [2016]—dramatically accelerated his journey. He toured alongside Lukas Graham and K.Flay, while joining forces with everyone from Killer Mike and Denzel Curry to Tori Kelly and Tove Lo for collaborations.
2017’s full-length debut No Data represented a watershed moment. Right out of the gate, it garnered acclaim from NPR, XXL, LADYGUNN, Vibe, Clash, and more as he supported Tove Lo on tour. In the midst of this grind, he split his time between Los Angeles and the road. However, Duluth subconsciously called to him. So, he packed up and returned to the house he grew up in where his second full-length album Black To The Culdesac [Warner Bros. Records] would also be born. The first single “Heart Shaped Culdesac” illuminates his evolution. Sunny production punctuated by handclaps and heavenly electronics underscores a breezy flow. Under the cover of nostalgic beats and sweeping melodies, Black To The Culdesac relays not only his story but “another side of the black experience.”
